La función cognoscitiva de la imaginación. Su rol en el aprendizaje. Parte 2: Perspectivas Neorobiológica y Neurocognitiva.

Desde la perspectiva contemporánea del conocimiento encarnado, se abordan las tesis del neurobiólogo Damasio y las de los desarrollos actuales neurocognitivos, en las que se destaca el rol de la interacción con el ambiente en la gestación de las representaciones, poniendo el funcionamiento del cerebro dentro de un contexto que incluye todas las dimensiones del cuerpo. Se analiza el rol del movimiento en el desarrollo de las imágenes y algunas de sus consecuencias para el proceso de aprendizaje. En el aspecto epistemológico, se trata así de superar un enfoque racionalista del aprendizaje, para articular experiencia y saber conceptual, saber y actuar.

Damasio’s neurobiological thesis and current neurocognitive theory are examined from the embodied cognition standpoint. This perspective highlights the role of human interaction with the environment in the formation of representations, thus putting the workings of the brain into a context that encompasses all bodily dimensions. The role played by motion in image development is analysed, dwelling on some of its consequences for the learning process. From an epistemological point of view, the need to go beyond the rationalist approach to learning is stressed, in order to harmonise experience and conceptual knowledge, knowing and acting.
